Configure taxes
Go to the Settings - Billing & taxes menu. In the top right corner of the page, select the "Taxes" option.
You will find 3 tabs on the taxes page.
- Tax rules You can create or edit tax rules and assign a tax type to them, which you will have configured in the "Taxes" tab (see step 9)
- Taxes This tab allows you to create taxes by defining a percentage as well as the country or countries to which it applies. (see step 4)
- Default settings These are all the settings related to product taxes (see step 16)
The "Taxes" tab Taxes are intended to be part of tax rules. They define a VAT rate to apply for a country. Depending on the type of products you rent out, you may need to apply different VAT rates to your products. In that case you can create multiple taxes (for example 5.5%, 20%, 10%). Each one will then find its place in a dedicated tax rule.
To create a new tax, click "Add a tax" Enter the tax name. Define the tax rate
Click "Add a country" Select the country. Enter the country code
Click "Validate". Create a tax rule. To create a new tax rule, go to the "Tax rules" tab then click "Add a new rule". You can also configure or modify existing rules by clicking on their name. Give the new tax rule a name.
Click "Validate". You can then add taxes for this new rule by clicking "New tax". Select a country.
Then the tax to apply. Click "Save". Repeat the process for each country in which you carry out your business. Click "Validate" when you are done to save these settings.
The "Default settings". Choose whether or not to display taxes in the cart. Choose the address on which the selection of the tax to apply will be based.
Choose the tax rule that will be selected by default when you create a rental product. Or when you create a complementary product. Or the one that will apply for late penalty fees.
Click "Save" to save your preferences.
