Duplicate a product sheet

Once a product has been created, it can be duplicated. Duplicated products contain the basic information from the original product (enabled/disabled and online/offline status, category, images - if desired -, rental offer). If your product has attributes, this can help you save considerable time when creating variants.

Go to the Catalogue - Products menu. Click on the row of the product you wish to duplicate, then on the "General information" tab of the product sheet. Duplication without attributes. For a simple duplication, without attributes, click the Duplicate button.

Choose the duplication options. You can choose whether to keep the cover image, the image gallery as a whole, and any associated complementary products if applicable. Then click Duplicate. The new product sheet is created. Based on the first product sheet and depending on the options chosen, a new sheet is created. You can then customise this new product sheet as needed. Open the page of the product you wish to duplicate, on the General information tab.

When a product with attributes is duplicated, you can use those attributes to create variants more quickly. We will use the example of a pair of shoes with 3 attributes: brand, model, and size. The purpose of attributes is to apply filters on your category pages and help your customers find the product that suits them. For your customers to be able to choose their size on a product page, you must create variants for that product. You therefore need a main product sheet and product sheets that will be variants of it (in our example: one product sheet per size). Only the main product sheet should be online; variant product sheets should be offline. This prevents the same product from being displayed multiple times on your site. However, all your product sheets must be enabled in order to be available for rental. To save time when creating your variants, and to prevent your customers from seeing your product page before you have finished your operations, set your main product Offline before duplicating it. The duplication window offers the same options as before. But it also offers you the option to enable the variant generator.

Enable the variant generator. All attributes available for the product are displayed with their values. Select the attribute values that will become variants. Warning: variants will be created for every possible combination of attributes. For example, if we leave all values selected as shown here: we will have a new product for each size/model/brand combination. So one product 35/Dunk/Nike, another 35/1 Mid/Nike, etc. We want to create size variants for this product, so we will select all the additional sizes to be created. However, we also want to copy the model and brand attributes onto each new product, since they are identical. We will therefore keep "Dunk" and "Nike". And then click Duplicate. After duplication, we are redirected to the variants tab of the product. All created products are displayed here as variants.

Don't forget to set the main product back Online when you are done. As a reminder, the main variant, or default product (the one that was duplicated), is the one that must be enabled and online. To view the product sheets that have been created, go to the Catalogue - Products menu. All products created by duplication are listed there. You can edit each product sheet as you see fit, in particular to add stock. Be careful, however, to always keep the same offer as the main product. Otherwise, this could cause issues with selection on the front end.
