The back-in-stock alert
You have the option to activate in your back office an alert that allows your customers to register their e-mail address to be notified when a product comes back in stock. Go to the Administration - Front-End menu, Tunnel d'achat tab. Activate the feature "Permettre à vos clients de s'inscrire à une liste d'attente pour être informé lorsque le produit de leur choix revient en stock". As an option, you can choose to send the e-mail informing of a stock return to only one customer at a time, in order of registration date on the waiting list. If this option is activated, every 24 hours, as long as the product is available, a scheduled task will send an e-mail to the oldest registrant on the waiting list.
Activate the scheduled task to allow this last option to work. To do so, go to the Administration - Tâches planifiées menu and activate the task "Alerte retour produit en stock à un seul client par 24H". You can also manually trigger this task if needed and view the sending history. E-mails will be sent automatically at 7 a.m. starting from the day after the product comes back in stock. Don't forget to Save.
The feature will be displayed on your front-end as soon as a product has no available stock (note: does not work for bundles).
Signing up for the waiting list on your front-end
Once activated, customers will be able to sign up for the waiting list on your front-end. All registered users will receive an e-mail at the same time on the day the product is back in stock (unless the "one customer every 24 hours" option is activated). The customer enters their e-mail address and then chooses the duration of their alert activation. Example: I sign up on January 10th, I choose a duration of 4 weeks; if the product comes back in stock on January 30th I will receive an e-mail, but if it is only available on February 15th, I will not receive an e-mail.
Then they confirm their registration. You can customize the text of the GDPR checkbox for this feature in your front-end translations. You can export the waiting list from your back office.
The waiting list export consists of:
- Alert ID: the alert number in the database.
- Customer ID: if the customer was logged in on your front-end, you will find the customer's ID in your database.
- Email: the e-mail address registered to receive the alert.
- Product ID: the product's ID in your catalogue.
- Valid until: date calculated based on the number of weeks chosen by the customer on the front-end.
- Alert added: the date on which the customer confirmed their alert.
- Alert sent on: the date on which the customer received the e-mail informing them that stock is available again, if applicable.
Sending the e-mail when stock is available again
As soon as stock is available again for the product, an e-mail is sent to all customers registered for the back-in-stock alert for that product. If you have chosen the option of a single send every 24 hours, the e-mail will be sent according to the terms described above. For more information on available stock, you can refer to this article.
The alert e-mail template
You can modify the content of the e-mail that the customer will receive from the Administration - Emails > Alerte retour stock menu. The e-mail must be active for the alert to be sent to the customer.
