Product attributes and filters
Attributes are the elements you will use to associate characteristics with your products (for example: size, brand...). Attributes will also appear as filters on the category pages of products that include them.
Go to the Catalogue - Product Attributes menu. To create an attribute, click on "Add an attribute group". Enter the name of the first attribute.
Select the group type. You can choose from:
- Value list
- Colors
- Free text
- Numeric with gauge (generally used for areas, e.g. m²)
Select and then click Save.
Enter the attribute values. For a "Shoe size" attribute, for example, enter as many values as there are possible sizes for all products.
- A value "red"
- A value "blue"
- A value "green" etc. Save the value each time. Repeat the process for each value. Using the positioning arrows, you will be able to decide the display order of your attribute values on the front end.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page when all the attribute values have been created. Enter only the uniqueness for Numeric with gauge or free text. When creating the product, you will need to enter "8" in the chosen field. This will create a gauge on the Front end for filtering. Once all your attributes and their values have been created, you have the option to define the display order of the attributes. To do so, click on the sorting button next to the search field.
And drag the attributes to rank them in the desired display order on the front end. Don't forget to save your ordering. Once all attributes have been created and ordered, go to the Catalogue - Products menu. Find the product to which you wish to link attributes and open the detailed product page. In the Product Attributes tab, you can select the attribute groups to link.
Then select the attribute values. Click "Add an attribute" to select a new one. Click Save when all attributes have been selected.
Attributes serve as filters on your category pages. They allow your customers to refine their search. When clicking on a filter, the values of the associated attribute are displayed in a list. Simply select one or more values to filter. Filters can be combined. By repeating the process from step 16, the customer can combine filters to further refine the display of products. In this example, after applying the filters, the customer will see all existing "helmet" products in white, whether they are available (in stock) or unavailable.
To uncheck all values of a filter, the customer can simply deselect them. The "Numeric with gauge" filter will appear as follows.
