Tips on images to import Finding great visuals on the internet, in the right place, and without it being time-consuming. Whether it is to spark the desire to read an article or encourage clicking, finding the right visual is very important.
Good free resources First of all, it is worth knowing that there are free or paid photos on the web at all kinds of prices. Unsplash.com, Pexel.com Here you will find many free images for your website. These two sites offer you photos taken by professional photographers. You will find authentic and non-standardised images there.
Good paid resources Istockphoto.com, Shutterstock.com For paid images. You will find on these sites a wide choice of visuals, but often more standardised. Do not hesitate to personalise your search — by using themes and keywords you will be able to refine the results.
Finding the ideal photo! To find the ideal photo(s), you must first list all the themes and/or keywords that correspond to your business. Then for more personalisation you can add a multitude of filters in order to refine your search: colours, image size, most viewed, sort by age, gender, etc…
How to search? When searching for visuals on dedicated websites, it is much more effective to conduct your search in English. On some sites, FR and EN searches are offered to you, but using English will give you more precise results.
One last tip… Whether you have had your photos taken by a professional photographer or chosen your visuals from image banks, you will need to choose the file size to download. For a minimum of visual quality on your site, always choose a size greater than 2000px. BUT the file size of your image should ideally remain below 2MB so as not to slow down the loading of your site. Web users browse mostly on mobile. The heavier and more numerous your images are, the longer the page loading time will be. => The file size of your images is one of the key factors in the good performance of your site.
