Maintenance mode and light maintenance mode

Maintenance mode allows you to display a custom message to front-end visitors when the site is under construction, for example during the resolution of a technical issue, an update, or major visual changes. Light maintenance mode allows you to display product pages on the front end and simulate Rental pricing, but blocks rental subscription by showing a customizable message to your visitors.

Go to the Administration - Front-end menu. In the General tab, you will find the maintenance toggle button. When it is enabled, front-end visitors will only have access to a page displaying a custom message, indicating for example that the site is temporarily unavailable. Here is an example of a maintenance page. The maintenance page can be customized in two ways:

• by modifying existing text via translations (see step 8 of this article).
• in a more advanced way, via the builder (see step 12 of this article).

In order to bypass this maintenance page, you can add one or more IP addresses. This will allow authorized users to retain access to your front end when maintenance mode is enabled.

Adding an IP address. To add an IP address, enter it in the field provided under "Maintenance", and click "Add".

Removing an IP address. To remove an already registered IP address, click the cross to the right of the relevant address.

Don't forget to click "Save" to record any changes.

Customizing the maintenance page via translations. To do so, go to the Administration - Languages menu. Select the "Translations" tab. Search for the phrases to replace using the "Search" field. You can then modify the phrase as you see fit.

Customizing the maintenance page via the builder. The builder is accessible from the Administration - Front-end menu. Select the "Pages" tab. If you do not see the maintenance page in the list of pages, you can search for it using the search field. Click the builder icon at the end of the row to edit the page. You can find more information on how to use the builder here.

In the General tab, you will also find the light maintenance mode toggle button. When it is enabled, your entire site will be displayed, including product pages. Your visitors will be able to simulate Rental pricing. However, rental subscription will be blocked upon clicking the add-to-cart button. Customize the message to display to your visitors. Here is a preview of the message that will then be shown to your visitors.
