Rental Statuses

Each rental created has a status that evolves throughout the life of the rental.

The "Validated" status At creation, whether from the front end or the back office, the rental is set to "Validated" status. This is the default status when a rental is created, whether it is a fixed-date rental or an unlimited or limited subscription rental, paid in-store, paid online or unpaid, with in-store pickup or home delivery...

The "Cancelled" status A rental that has been cancelled before it starts will have the "Cancelled" status.

The "In Progress" status The rental will move to "In Progress" status in three cases: 1° The item has been handed over to the customer in person at the pickup point, and this has been notified via the platform or the webapp (HAND OVER THE PRODUCT button in the rental details page) 2° The rented item has been shipped to the customer and this has been notified from the Logistics and transport page. 3° In the context of a subscription rental, if it was in dispute status and the customer updates their payment card. The rental will then revert to "In Progress" status.

The "Late" status Only fixed-date rentals and limited-duration subscription rentals can have the "Late" status. The transition to this status is automatic, no action is required on your part. For fixed-date rentals: as soon as the customer does not come to collect their product on the start date of their rental. Ex: the rental starts on 01/11, the customer does not come to collect their product on 01/11, the rental will switch to LATE status at 06:00 AM on 02/11. For fixed-date rentals and limited-duration subscription rentals: if the customer does not return their product at the end of their rental, according to the conditions configured in your advanced settings, under the "late returns and penalties" section. Ex: The configuration specifies that the limited-duration subscription rental is considered late 3 days after the rental end date. The rental ends on 01/11, the customer does not return their product on 01/11, on 04/11 at 06:00 AM, the rental will switch to LATE status.

The "Awaiting Return" status The awaiting return status is applied to a rental when you notify that the return of the rented product has been requested. This follows a communication between you and the customer.

The "Returned" status This is a transitional status. A rental never remains in returned status and you will not see any rentals with this status in the rental list. You will only see it in the status history of your rentals. The rental moves to "Returned" status when the rented product is received and its return is notified on the platform. It then immediately moves to "Completed" status.

The "Completed" status The "Completed" status is automatically applied to the rental following the "Returned" status (except in the event of a dispute regarding the condition of the returned product (statuses: to be repaired, broken or lost).

The "In Dispute" status The "In Dispute" status is applied to the rental in one of the following cases:

  • The product is returned to be repaired or broken and beyond repair.
  • The product is lost
  • In the context of a VALIDATED or IN PROGRESS subscription rental, when the associated subscription moves to "In Dispute" status because a subscription payment instalment has not been settled.
  • => The rental will remain in DISPUTE status as long as the unpaid subscription instalments are not settled.
  • To close a rental in this scenario you have two options:
  • => You can cancel the IN DISPUTE rental that was previously only VALIDATED - never moved to IN PROGRESS because the product was never handed over to the customer - in order to stop payment attempts and the generation of unpaid subscription invoices.
  • => You can end the IN PROGRESS rental at any time by recording the product return (the subscription will remain in IN DISPUTE status).

Rental status history. The history of statuses through which a rental has passed is available on the rental details page.

Filter by status You can filter the display of your rental list based on their statuses.
